2012 Alaska State Singles Racquetball Championships

The 2012 Alaska State Singles Racquetball Championships will take place April 25-28, 2012 (Wednesday - Saturday) at The Alaska Club - Midtown Out of town players MUST be able to play on THURSDAY NIGHT. Entry Fees: $50 members and $55 nonmembers for the first event; $15 for second event; $25 for Juniors (18 yrs & under) for first event. Juniors must play in a Junior division as their first event. All faxed entries must have credit card information or member number to be accepted. Fax entry to: (907) 561-2946. Players may enter in 1 skill level only and 2 events total. All players are required to be AARA Members and a $15 annual fee will collected at the tournament desk for all non members, Your membership will allow you to attend the AARA "End of Year" party Saturday night at Guidos Restaurant where along with GREAT FOOD & DRINK we will be inducting 2 individuals to the Alaska Racquetball "Hall of Fame", present both Adult and Junior Sportsmanship awards, and give away a lot of door prizes.

Singles Shuttle - April 21, 2012

Singles Shuttle Saturday April 21, 2012

The Alaska Club Midtown will be hosting a "Racquetball Singles Shuttle" on Saturday April 21, There will be two sessions, The first for Open/A players from 12-2:00pm and the B/C players from 2:30-4:30. This is the last chance to get in some practice along with testing your endurance level before the upcoming Alaska State Singles tournament. Players are required to show up 1 half hour prior to start time 11:30pm for Open/A & 2:00pm for B/C players. At 11:45 and 2:15 reserved spots will be given away to stand by players.

How do shuttles work?: Players will be ranked according to the Alaska State Rankings with the highest ranked Player starting on the HIGHER NUMBERED COURTS and working down to the LOWER SEEDED PLAYERS on the LOWER NUMBERED COURTS. Play begins when the Whistle is blown, players will play until the whistle is blown once again to stop play (7 Minutes Later), Winners will move UP 1 court toward the LOWER NUMBERED COURTS while Losers will move DOWN 1 court toward the HIGHER NUMBERED COURTS and both shall be ready to start the new game within 30 SECONDS. Play will continue for 2 Hours with the winners being determined by total number of MATCH WINS.

The cost of the Shuttle is $10 PER PERSON and is open to the first 14 individuals to signup. If your interested in playing send me an e-mail ASAP or call me 242-7470.

2012 March Madness

March Madness Racquetball Tournament

The March madness Tournament has been Canceled

The next Anchorage tournament will be the 2012 March Madness March 15-18 at The Alaska Club - Midtown. This is a Singles ONLY tournament to help prepare everyone for the Alaska State Singles tournament which will take place April 25-28th, All Singles divisions will be offered both SKILL LEVEL & Age Events along with Junior divisions. Players may compete in 1 Skill Level and 1 Age Event for a total of 2 events. Entry Deadline is Sunday March 11 @ 6pm. All tournament participants are required to be current AARA members.

2012 Alaska State Doubles Championships

The 2012 Alaska State Doubles will take place at the Alaska Club Midtown February 16-19, 2012, Divisions will be offered to Women, Men, and Juniors of all SKILL Levels from Novice to Open along with Age events starting at 24 & Under working up to 65+, Mixed Doubles will also be offered in both B/C and Open/A Levels, New for the 2012 Championships will be the Men's 55+ "Blind Draw" division where Men B/C players will be paired up with an Open/A partner through a "Blind Draw" to form a team. Players are allowed to enter 1 Skill, 1 Age & 1 Mixed division for a total of 3 (The 3rd Event MUST be Mixed Doubles or Men's 55+ Blind Draw) if competing in three events PLEASE no time conflicts.

Entry Fees: $50 per participant for the first event; $15 for second/third event $25 for Juniors (18 yrs & under) for first event Juniors must play in a Junior division as their first event to receive this special price. Entry deadline: Applications must be turned in to The Alaska Club Midtown by 6pm on SUNDAY February 12. No refunds will be given after the draw is posted. No team will be entered unless entries are received from both team members.

All tournament participants will be required to pay a $15 AARA membership fee. If you are a current United States Association of Racquetball (USAR) member then you will not need to pay another membership fee. Anyone in need of a partner in any division PLEASE Contact me ASAP and I'll try to team you up with someone.

You may list one time conflict and we will do our best to accommodate. If we cannot schedule around your conflict, you will be notified prior to draw completion. If you DO-NOT list a conflict on your application, no changes will be made after the draw has been posted THANK YOU for your support.

The Alaska Club Midtown will be hosting a "Racquetball Doubles Shuttle" on Saturday February 11, There will be two sessions the first for B/C Teams from 12:00-2:00pm and the Open-A Teams from 2:30-4:30. This is the last chance to get in some practice with your partners before the State Doubles tournament, along with testing your endurance level. Players are required to show up 1 half hour prior to start time (11:30pm & 2:00pm) at 15 minutes after spots will be given away to stand by teams.

Women doubles team may compete in a division 1 class lower then the higher players single ranking meaning most of you would be fine in the Men's B/C.

2012 Alaska Open

2012 Alaska Open - January 19-22

The next Racquetball tournament of 2011/12 season will be The "Alaska Open" and will take place January 19-22 at The Alaska Club Midtown, deadline to enter is SATURDAY January 14 (the draw will be done by Sunday night). Once again both Singles (Skill & Age) and Doubles (Mens, Womens, & Mixed) divisions will be offered along with Junior events. Players are permitted to compete in only 1 skill (A,B, C ect) and 1 age event or doubles. Mixed doubles can be played as a 3rd event so long as you have "NO TIME CONFLICTS" for scheduling purposes.
Juniors MUST compete in a JUNIOR'S division 1st in order to receive the discounted price of $15. Just as a reminder, 1st round matches can start as early as 5:30pm Thursday, You may list a one time conflict on your entry form and we will do our best to accommodate. If we cannot schedule around your conflict, you will be notified prior to draw completion. NO TIME changes will be made after the draw has been posted. The tournament may end on Saturday depending on the number of entries.

The next tournament is the 2011 Christmas Classic which will take place at The Alaska Club - Midtown Thursday - December 15 through Sunday - December 18. ENTRY Fees: $25 members and $30 nonmembers for the first event; $8 for second/ third (3rd must be mixed with no conflicts) $15 for Juniors (18 yrs & under) for first event.

All tournament participants will be required to pay a $15 AARA membership fee. If you are a current USA Racquetball (USAR) member, then you will not need to pay another membership fee. Juniors must play in a Junior division as their first event (ONLY to receive the Special Price).

Entry deadline is Saturday December 10 @ 6pm. Completed Entry forms can be turned in to The Alaska Club Midtown or East locations. Just as a reminder, 1st round matches can start as early as 5:30pm Thursday, You may list ONE time conflict on your entry form and we will do our best to accommodate. If we cannot schedule around your conflict, you will be notified prior to draw completion. If you DO-NOT list a conflict (1st round matches only) on the application, no changes will be made after the draw has been posted.

There will be tournament shirts for the first 55 PAID entries received.

2011 4 Wall Turkey Brawl

2011 Four Wall Turkey Brawl

The next Anchorage tournament will be the 2011 Four Wall Turkey Brawl November 17-20 at The Alaska Club - Midtown. Once again both Singles and Doubles divisions will be offered along with Junior divisions. Players may compete in 3 events total but only 1 "Skill Level" and the 3rd event MUST be MIXED Doubles. Women players are allowed to compete in a Men's division one level below their current Women's division only after entering their Women's division first. Entry Deadline is Saturday November 12 @ 6pm. All tournament participants are required to be current AARA members. If you are a current US Racquetball (USAR) member, then you will not need to pay the $15 AARA membership fee. Entry fee includes Court Time, Balls, Lunch on Saturday, Refreshments throughout the tournament.

The AARA will be hosting the Saturday (12 Noon) luncheon and will be serving a Thanksgiving feast to include Turkey, Potatoes, Gravy, vegetables, Rolls, and Pies.. If you would like to bring a dish to share Please have it at the tournament about 11:30 Saturday afternoon..

We are trying to get all the Women players to come out for this event, So we will be offering a "Blind Draw" Women's Doubles along with mixed Doubles at this tournament, If you need a Mixed partner drop me an e-mail and we'll find you one.

2011 Great Alaska Rollout tournament

Great Alaska Rollout - October 13-16, 2011

The 2011/2012 Alaska Racquetball season will kick off with "The Great Alaska Rollout" to be held at The Alaska Club - Midtown. October 13-16. Both Singles and Doubles will be offered, players will be limited to 3 events. Entry deadline is Saturday October 8 at 6pm. Entry fee is $25 for 1st event and $8 2nd and 3rd event (3rd event must be mixed doubles only). This is the AARA Membership drive tournament and a $15 annual fee will be collected.
